Many small businesses and entrepreneurs dream of having a website that perfectly suits their operational needs. Anna, owner of “Anna’s Flower Shop,” a charming local store with a growing online presence, was no exception. Besides selling floral arrangements, Anna wanted to offer creative workshops but faced a common challenge: how to manage bookings simply and professionally without incurring high development costs or the complexity of oversized plugins?

This is a look at how Kairos WP helped Anna transform her need into a functional and perfectly tailored solution.

Anna’s Challenge: Managing Bookings Without Complexity or Excessive Costs

Anna envisioned a simple system:

  • A section on her WordPress website to list her upcoming flower workshops.
  • Each workshop displaying its name, date, time, price, and number of available spots.
  • A button for customers to easily book their spot.
  • Automatic notifications for both her and the customer after a booking.

She explored several existing event and booking plugins, but many were too complex for her needs, offered dozens of features she wouldn’t use, or had subscription costs that were beyond her budget as a small business owner. “I just wanted something straightforward and functional that would integrate well with my website and not give me technical headaches,” Anna told us.

Discovering Kairos WP: A Custom Solution Within Reach

It was then that Anna, through a recommendation from her freelance web designer, discovered Kairos WP. The idea of being able to simply describe the booking system she imagined, instead of searching for and adapting a generic plugin, seemed revolutionary. “The promise of not having to touch code and still getting something custom-made was exactly what I was looking for,” she recalls.

The Creation Process with Kairos WP: From Idea to Functional Plugin

Anna embarked on the creation process with Kairos WP, interacting with our AI agents:

Initial Description to Lola (AI Requirements Agent)

Anna described her need as clearly as possible:

“I need a plugin for my flower shop to manage workshop bookings. I want to be able to add ‘Workshops’ as a content type, each with fields for: Workshop Name, Date, Start Time, Price, Maximum Spots, and a Brief Description. On the frontend, users should see a list of upcoming available workshops. Each workshop in the list should display its name, date, and a ‘Book Spot’ button. Clicking ‘Book Spot’ should open a simple form where the customer enters their Name and Email. The system must check if spots are available. If so, it should register the booking, decrease the spot counter for that workshop, and send a confirmation email to the customer and another to my email ‘bookings@annasflowershop.com’. If no spots are available, it should display a message.”

Refining Requirements with Lola

Lola, our AI consultant, processed the request and presented Anna with a series of structured functional requirements. Anna could review them, and for example, Lola might have suggested or Anna might have added:

  • “The workshop list should be ordered by date, showing the nearest ones first.”
  • “The customer confirmation email should include the details of the booked workshop (name, date, time).”
  • “In the WordPress dashboard, I want to see a list of bookings for each workshop.”

Generation and Review (Pablo and Alex, AI Development and Quality Agents)

Once Anna was satisfied with the requirements, Pablo, our AI developer, generated the plugin’s code. Alex, the AI reviewer, analyzed it, granting a high confidence level and perhaps suggesting a small optimization in handling database queries for spots.

Playground Testing and Iteration

Anna tested the generated plugin in the secure WordPress Playground environment offered by Kairos WP. Everything worked as expected, but she realized it would be useful to have a phone number field for the customer. She described this small addition to Lola, and the generation and review cycle was quickly repeated, integrating the new field.

The Result: A Lightweight and Perfect Booking System for “Anna’s Flower Shop”

In a very short time, and with a significantly lower investment than traditional development would have required, Anna obtained:

  • A plugin that did exactly what she needed to manage her workshops.
  • A lightweight solution, without the burden of unnecessary features slowing down her website.
  • A system visually integrated with her online flower shop’s design.
  • The ability to easily manage her workshops and bookings from the WordPress dashboard.
